S
everal gardening groups hosted their annual plant
sales on April 11, 2026. Lines stretched around
the venues as gardeners picked up new plants
and supported good causes. It turns out that buying plants
in April has become the event everyone wants to attend.

This year’s featured plant was Iron Butter昀氀y
(Vernonia lettermannii), named the Garden
Club of America’s Native Plant of the Year.
One more sale event completed the day.
The Herb Society of Nashville held its annual plant sale at
The Fairgrounds of Nashville in Exhibit Hall 1. Admission
was free, and visitors could browse more than 10,000
plants in 150 varieties and sizes, including some rare and
unusual herbs. The event also o昀昀ered talks and herbgrowing demonstrations. Proceeds support the Herb
Society’s community and charitable projects. Another
group nearby kept the day lively.
Each spring, the Garden Club of Nashville holds its Annual
Native Plant Sale at Cheekwood, o昀昀ering plants that grow
well in Middle Tennessee. Proceeds go to The Howe
