President’s
Message
T
his spring, as I look out at my yard full of
clover, I feel both awe and gratitude. After
the harsh winter ice storm in Nashville,
the return of spring feels even more special.
Lately, these feelings have become part of my
everyday life.
As the new president of the Horticultural Society
of Middle Tennessee, I am truly honored by
your trust and inspired by the long history of
this organization.
Looking ahead to the next two years, my main
goals are to move our branching-out campaign
forward and make sure our tree canopy
initiative is a big focus in the community. I also
want to strengthen our mission by growing
our educational programs about horticulture,
昀氀oral artistry, conservation, and the bene昀椀ts of
gardening, both outside and inside. As our area
becomes more urban, encouraging urban and
indoor gardening will stay important.
I want to introduce myself with humility. My
name is Lacey Moore, and I am proud to be a
new resident of Nashville. My family is originally
from the mountains of East Tennessee and this
has truly felt like a homecoming to me. I moved
here from Central Florida in 2024. Having seen
fast growth in Florida, I value the energy that
new Nashvillians bring to our city. Now that I am
in Middle Tennessee, I feel like I have found my
forever home and a new purpose with HSMT.

I want to thank our past president, Mrs. Deborah
Pitts, for her hard work, dedication, and for
trusting me to follow in her footsteps. I am also
grateful to all our former presidents, board
members, and volunteers who have kept our
organization strong for 94 years. To our current
board and volunteers, thank you for working
with me in the years ahead. Since we are mostly
run by volunteers, I also want to recognize our
amazing administrator and only employee,
Mrs. Camille Cha昀케n, for her dedication.
To those who may become our future
volunteers, members, or board members,
we invite you to join the Horticultural Society
of Middle Tennessee. Whether you want to
volunteer, serve on a committee, or join our
board, your unique talents are welcome.
Please get in touch to share your interests and
昀椀nd out how you can make a real di昀昀erence in
our organization and community. I am excited
to grow with you and look forward to connecting
during my time as president and beyond.
With sincere gratitude and respect,
LACEY MOOORE
