s summer turns to autumn, the Nashville Fair comes
back to The Fairgrounds Nashville from September 11
to 20. There’s more to enjoy than just rides and tasty
fair food. For gardeners and nature lovers, this family-friendly
and walkable fair celebrates Tennessee’s farming traditions
and gives everyone a chance to meet the people, plants, and
pollinators that help our communities grow.
This year, the fair builds on their award-winning Flight of the
Pollinators exhibit, where visitors can learn about butter昀氀ies,
bees, and other helpful insects that help gardens thrive. This year,
the exhibit includes free nature-related books for kids and free fall
pollinator seeds for the yard and garden. The Butter昀氀y Exhibit,
created with Davidson County 4-H and Master Gardeners, lets
you see and feed these creatures up close and share easy tips
for making your own garden friendly to pollinators. Stroll over to
Bearded Bee Works which will have a working hive on display
with scheduled honey extracting demonstrations.
Agriculture is a big part of The Nashville Fair with the largest
indoor show ring in the state. All 10 days, you can see livestock
shows, milking demos, giant pumpkin and watermelon weighins, gardening exhibits, and programs that honor Tennessee’s
farming history. Enter the labors of your garden love in the Fruits
and Vegetables competitions and canning by the end of August
for exhibition at the fair to win ribbons and money! Families can
also stop by the AGtivity Farm, where kids learn how food is
grown and why farmers are so important to our communities.
